Services Offered
Many people come into therapy because they need a non-judgmental and caring environment in which to face life's challenges. My hope is to create that place for you in therapy. My specialties include working with:
- Depression: Depression can manifest in many ways, beyond feeling sad. This includes irritability, feeling anxious, eating too much/too little, sleeping too much/too little, etc. I have a special focus in treating men with depression. Don't let untreated depression change your life. Using proven techniques, I can help you identify the source of your feelings, and begin to feel better.
- Anxiety/Stress: Do you feel overwhelmed or anxious at times? I can teach you skills to reduce anxiety/stress, which will help you to get control back over these negative feelings and to feel calm again. Therapy is a natural way to deal with panic attacks, generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), social anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), and relationship or work-related stress.
- Adolescent Issues: As a mother myself, I understand wanting to be the best parent possible. Yet do you sometimes feel like throwing up your hands? It takes real courage to admit that sometimes our kids need help. I provide counseling for adolescents and their families who may be struggling with depression, anxiety, school, or family issues.
- Trauma: Have you survived a traumatic experience in your life, such as childhood abuse, sexual abuse, partner abuse, car wrecks, etc? Are you suffering unwanted thoughts, nightmares, and/or difficulty in your relationships as the result of trauma? I can help you begin to heal in a safe, non-judgmental environment.
- Grief/Loss: any loss, recent or not, including the loss of a pet. I have extensive experience in helping homicide survivors and families surviving suicide.
- Relationship Issues: Are you struggling in your relationships? Unsure whether to stay or go? Or just experiencing the normal ups & downs of a relationship? Relationship difficulties are a leading cause of depression, stress, and anxiety. Through couples counseling, there is help available to improve communication and reconnect with each other once again.
I know how hard taking the first step of seeking help can be. I provide a brief free telephone consultation to determine if I can help. Please call (678) 622-1178 for further information. I look forward to hearing from you!
